5 Tips to Get Your Spring Glow On!

“If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy. If she’s easy, she won’t be amazing. If she’s worth it, you won’t give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy.” – Bob Marley

Spring is the ideal season to give a boost to your skin’s circulation. The increase in temperatures, humidity, pollen and greater exposure to sunlight makes the skin more sensitive, which could result in uncomfortable sensations of itchiness, dryness or even irritability. On the brighter side, the air is warmer, the days longer and, our moods are ready for a happy hour jam to some mellow Bob Marley!

Rock the following 5 tips to get your glow on!

The Spring weather significantly alters the pH of our skin, so we should take some precautions to adapt to this change of season without compromising it. The cold, the humidity and the wind of the winter months put a strain on our faces. In fact, the low winter temperatures reduce the diameter of the peripheral blood vessels, which reduces the supply of blood, oxygen and nutrients to the skin. In addition, the cold alters the surface protective film of water and sebum, drying the skin.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is a must in the spring. To adequately protect the skin, it is necessary to manually remove the dead cells with a very light exfoliation. Once a week, take advantage of the evening, or any other moment of relaxation, to make your face glow!

  1. Cleanse your face with a delicate, chemical free cleanser, and rinse with warm water.
  2. Then, choose a scrub based on your sensitive skin type. Products with microgranules are more suitable for youthful skin, while a fruit acid scrub is recommended for women with sensitive skin, ages 30 and over.
  3. Place a small amount of the product in the palm of your hand and begin massaging your face. Apply a larger amount of the product to the T zone, where the impurities and blackheads are more concentrated. Avoid the zone around the eyes and lips as the epidermis is thinner in those regions. For the eyes and lips, use a specific mask with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid. Apply it by lightly tapping the skin around the eyes and lips, to stimulate circulation and promote the absorption of active substances.

H2O

Drink water, the number one ally of hydrated skin. Drinking water helps neutralize free radicals. Because sensitive skin has such a difficult time absorbing the water necessary for achieving total hydration, you must drink at least 10 cups of water a day and hydrate in abundance. In fact, it is important to preserve the optimal quality of the hydrolipidic film which acts as a protective barrier on the surface of the skin.

Choose a Healthy Diet

Consciously introduce healthy foods into your busy schedule. Since there are fatty, sugary foods that are best avoided when trying to cure the skin, remove them from your diet, and introduce foods that are conducive to healthy skin: carrots, spinach or potatoes that contain a lot of beta-carotene and strengthen the natural barrier of the skin. You can maintain healthy skin by increasing the consumption of seasonal fruit and vegetables and limiting coffee and alcohol.

Exercise

The best way to eliminate toxins is through sweat, so choose a power workout. Whether you go for an intense run, take a total body workout class or release stress by kickboxing, go all out and sweat hard! Sport, among other things, also helps to oxygenate the skin.

Total Solar Protection

Beware of the sun’s harmful rays! Even if the sun is not as intense in the spring as it is in the summer, excessive exposure of your face to the sun can cause blemishes and skin burns. The sensitive skin of the face is particularly prone to sun damage. Because sunlight has a dehydrating effect, sensitive skin can become even drier. This makes it more vulnerable to irritants, further aggravating their symptoms. Therefore, it is important that sunscreen is specifically formulated and tested on sensitive skin. Make sure you use a skin appropriate sunscreen that moisturizes and protects even now in the spring.
