“Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.”
Your alarm clock awakens you at 5:50 am, you groan and press the “Ok, I’m awake” button. As you open your eyes you realize the sun has every intention of rising, so you open the window blinds and head for the bathroom, motivated to breathe some 6 am country, fresh air.
You wash your face, brush your teeth, put on your sports bra, tank top, running shorts, and sneakers, and throw your unruly curls into a ponytail: a high ponytail, so when the intense rhythm of your run tries to knock it down, it will stand proudly in place. You pop your earphones in place, switch on your high energy music jam, down a glass of tepid water with lemon, grab your house key and breeze through the door.
You glance at your watch and calculate: an hour commute awaits you, work starts at 9, and it will take you a half hour to shower and get ready for work, so you have an entire hour to pound the dirt road and glisten with the six am sweat that only the early morning cool temps allow. Afternoon and early evening humidity has made running impossible, the crisp morning air was electrifying and significantly more breathable.
